concrete canvas shelter--Interesting

Found this on another Site. Looks pretty interesting.

My Monitor is to small to read all the print but it seems it should be quick and sizable and able to be buried.

Those are cool. If they aren't outrageous price wise they would make good quick bug out shelter on some acreage, earthbermed and sodded. Good free climate control that way.

It would be interesting to use somethig like this as an initial setup , then spray another 4 inches on concrete onto it. Then bury it. With an entrance of course.

for my own peace of mind
depending how deep one wanted
if i were to bury one of these
i'd want some kind of frame structure over this before burial

I wouldn't want to bury it "as is" but sprayed on concrete with a little chicken wire can be extremely strong, especially with an arch configuration. The biggest problem would be securing it at the bottem. Just brainstorming!!

I get the impression these things aren't cheap!!

Rebar and concrete the floor to the perimeter wall.

i guess one has to contact them for a price
and if you hesitate at the price
they can always start up with the selling points

if they can't put the price out front, c-ya

QWAK,The alternitive to the "McMansion" could be the perfect solution to taking in friends and family after TSHTF if they have not prepared AND you had the INSITE and $$$$ to buy early when you could still buy and have it shiped.

On the DOWN side,I got a question about storage? I have had several bags of cement turn in to useless big slabs because I did not get around to using them soon enough and dampness did what dampness DOES to cement.

I would expect that they are NOT CHEEP!

I have a small PIRIMID project I am working on as a cover for my hand doug well. I used old angle iron bed frames welded in to a pirimid shape and plan to cover that with chicken wire and hard ware cloth wired to the angle iron. My plan is to then just build up coats of sand and cement over the wire and frame.

I also think it would be a great place to meditate inside the pirimid over the water in the well!:thinkey: Perhaps it will be as sort of ENERGY PORTAL?:questionm:questionm

Check out Monolithic Dome Homes. They are fireproof, tornado proof, hurricaine proof, and super energy efficient.

I completely disagree. Given that the target purchasers are relief organizations and other NGOs the cost per unit is probably very low indeed. Keep in mind that the typical purchase would be hundreds or even thousands of units. Whether or not you could just buy one or two is the question. I don't know how much of a commercial market they might be considering, if any. I'm going to guess a few hundred FRNs per, for small purchases.

Yup. I had one built. Best decision the wife & I ever made. 50 foot diameter - 19 ft tall in the center. Takes a single window AC to keep it chilly... set on LOW. 1 or 2 oil filled 1500 watt electric heaters keep it toasty in the winter.

kickass :applause_ I plan on building one at some point. My dream is a small farm with a decent sized dome fully off the grid. One day it will happen.

Just curious how long the construction process took? And are you city or rural?
